This weekend, the mail server has been upgraded.

All sync scripts are being modified to have a synchronization done every 10 minutes on all mail boxes and total backup every 4 hours on remote main server.

All mail boxes are now backed up every 30 minutes. So, there is not much to worry about.

Our Sun Cobalt Raq 550 very getting old.
They have been replaced by a couple Compaq DL 380 and DL 360 servers.
They are all in production and running well.

We upgraded the main web server’s cpu to a more powerfull one. An increase in cpu computing power of 26% is to be expected.

The down time was less than 4 minutes.

A power failure occured last night at 12:05. It lasted 12 minutes, but there was no impact on our servers as they are all on UPS backup.

One of our UPS started to behave. Instead of providing continuous power, it started to turn itself off for a few seconds and back on. This caused outage to the main web server which had to re-sync the hard drives. It happened twice.

The first time, we had to restore 4 small databases.
The second time, only one database was affected. Since that database is large (15 000 000 rows), it took time to restore it.

The main web server has been connected to another, but smaller UPS until we receive a new one this week.
